Registration Instructions :
1. Bibs must be picked up by 9:30 am on race day.
2. NEW! Each racer, wearing their bib, must pick up their TIMING CHIP in the start area prior to the race.
Register early and save! Early bird rates are in effect until Sunday January 21st at 11:59 PM. Registration closes on Thursday, January 25th at 11:59 PM. NO REGISTRATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THIS DATE.
Course Description: This is a classic race – skating is not allowed.
- 5 km Race (approximately)- Short loop – Medium Difficulty –Special Olympic racers, social skiers & kids
- 15 km Race - 1 loop - Medium Level Difficulty
- 30 km Race - 2 loops - Medium Level Difficulty
Feed Stations: There will be 2 feed stations on course for each 15 km loop.
Prizes and Awards:
- Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category. See www.arrowheadnordic.ca for a full list of categories.
- There will be draw prizes.
- Awards will be presented after most skiers have finished each race.
Race Day Details:
- Allow 15 minutes to walk or take shuttle from the parking lots to the registration area.
- Mass starts begin at 10:30 AM with waves going out at 5 minute intervals.
- The course is subject to change, without notice, due to weather and snow conditions.
- Unheated privies are available near the race office, and heated flush toilets are available at the winter comfort station near the skating trail. Bring a duffle bag or knapsack in which to store gear since indoor storage space is extremely limited.
- You must notify a course official if you discontinue the race at any time.
- LUNCH is included with your registration fee!
- There is a $50 charge for race bibs which are not returned.
- There is a $60 charge for timing chips which are not returned.
- 30 km racers who have not completed their first lap in 1.5 hours will be asked to discontinue the race.
Weather Considerations:
- In case of very cold weather , start time may be delayed by up to 1 hour. Skiers will be given as much notice as possible. Cancellation due to poor trail conditions or extreme cold weather will be announced by Friday, January 26 (barring unpredicted weather changes). Please check our website. There is no rain date. Refunds will be mailed out, less a $5 administration fee.
Wax Restrictions:
- This race is part of the Paraffin Race Series. Paraffin Series Racers must comply to the following waxing restrictions:
- No glide waxes with fluorocarbons, n o Low-Fluoro wax, no H igh-Fluoro wax, no powders, no hardeners, or gels are permitted.
- This restriction does not apply to grip waxes.
SOD Paraffin Series:
- If you are a competitive racer who is competing in the SOD paraffin race series, please read the following carefully. It is up to you to register in the correct race distance . Make sure you also fill in the name of your club when you register.
Atom girls and boys (born 2009-2011) - register in the 5 km Children's race.
Peewee (girls born 2006-2008 and boys born 2005-2009) - register in the 5 km Children's race
Midget (girls born 2004-2005 and boys born 2003-2004) - register in the 5 km Children's race
Juvenile (girls born 2002-2003 and boys born 2002) - register in the 15 km Youth race
Junior girls and boys (born 2000-2001) - register in the 15 km youth race
Junior women and men (born 1998-1999) - register in the 30 km youth race
Senior women and men (born 1987-1997) - register in the 30 km adult race
Masters women and men (born 1986 and earlier) - register in the 30 km adult race
Skiers not competing for points may register in whatever race length they wish.
