Welcome to the 35th Annual La Ronge Don Allen Saskaloppet!
Brought to you by the La Ronge Ski Club and community sponsors and volunteers.
The Saskaloppet Trail is back!
Thanks to the work of La Ronge Ski Club volunteers and the Lac la Ronge Provincial Park Trail Crew, the deadfall from the 2015 forest fires and recent wind storms has now been removed from the main branch of the original Saskaloppet Trail. And the Park has rebuilt the warm-up cabins destroyed in the 2015 fires. A final approval is required from the Park Superintendent to open the Saskaloppet Trail up to the public. However, it is anticipated that approval will be granted and the 2018 Don Allen Saskaloppet will follow its traditional route.
Snowfall in the La Ronge area has been well above normal this year. By the end of January, the Saskaloppet Trail had a packed base of about 45 cm. Saskaloppet skiers can therefore expect trails to be in excellent condition with both a skate track and classic track.
Bib pick-up and de-registration for the 2018 Don Allen Saskaloppet will be at La Ronge's Royal Canadian Legion Hall, 1400 La Ronge Avenue. It is expected that the start/finish will be on the lake ice in front of the Legion.
