2021 NWT Territorial Cross Country Ski Championships

The Yellowknife Ski Club is excited to host the 2021 Territorial Cross Country Ski Championships for all skiers across the north. This is a family event, with categories for all ages. Anyone is eligible to enter.
Everyone must adhere to the COVID-19 protocols set out by the Chief Public Health Officer and the
Yellowknife Ski Club Covid-19 Exposure Plan

Plan to be outside as there will be limited use of the chalet

$5 per race! (Under 8 years of age race for free)

Registration:
All participants must register for the event at
zone4.ca before Sunday, March 14, 2021 at midnight.
Race fee is $5 per race. Under 8 years of age are free.

Eligibility:
Anyone with a pair of skis. All ages and abilities are welcomed and encouraged to participate!
Course:
The races routes will follow the 1 km, 1.25 km and 2.5 km loops at the Yellowknife ski club. The U6 race routes will occur in the ski club stadium. Maps of the routes will be posted at the ski club on the day of the events.
Results & Awards:
Race results will be posted on zone 4 and at the ski club following the races. Gold, Silver & Bronze medals will be awarded to U12, U14, U16, U18 & Masters categories only.
Medal Ceremony:
Will occur after each eligible category on all race days.
Waxing Facilities:
Come ready to ski! Wax facilities at the chalet are available 24 hours a day. Please prepare your equipment in advance.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions the chalet wax room will not be available to wax skis immediately before races. Wax forms & irons will be available outside on the day of the races.
Refreshments:
Bring your own snacks and beverages. Each participant will receive a wrapped cookie medal and drink voucher at the end of their races.
Weather & Cancellation Policy:
As per Nordiq Canada racing rules, the racing cut off temperatures will be -15ºC for under 12 years (U12) and -20ºC for other age categories. The ‘event jury’ will monitor the weather forecast and will announce via email on the day of the event by 1pm if races will be cancelled. In case of cancellation, participants are encouraged to go for a recreational ski. No refunds will be issued.
