Regional Biathlon Competition

OBJECTIVES:

This is intended to be a low pressure, fun competition to allow athletes and coaches an opportunity for a mid-winter race.

There will be two competitions:

1) Formally organized sprint competition, timed with Zone4 software and timing chips.

2) Fun relay(s) - prefer a two-person mixed format (each athlete gets two legs = 4 shoots), but final decision will depend on number of participants and weather. Ideally one mass start, but if team numbers exceed range capacity then will do several starts.

EVENT SCHEDULE:

10:45 rifle check opens

11:00 zero

12:00 sprint race

13:30 fun relay (approximate time)

REGISTRATIONS:

On-line registration will open January 2, 2023

Registration deadline is 22:00 Wednesday, January 11, 2023

ENTRY FEES:

Entry fees are $5, payable upon receipt of race bib OR bring post-race snacks to share. Please bring correct change.

ELIGIBILITY:

All competitors must be members of Biathlon BC for the 2022 – 2023 season. A valid membership number will be required on the entry form. A Recreational Class membership is acceptable for this event. Competitors who do not have a valid Biathlon BC membership will be required to purchase a $5.50 Day Membership (available on-line at http://biathlonbc.ca/membership/membership-racing-categories/ ). Biathlon BC memberships can be purchased on-line through Biathlon Canada at https://zone4.ca/register.asp?id=28609&lan=1&cartlevel=1

OFFICIATING:

A minimum number of competition officials will be provided. Coaches, parents and race support staff will be encouraged to help with competition management (ex. rope pulling, range recording). Penalty laps will be managed on the honour system.
