A chance to come together for fun races when the weather cooperates! These will be fun and relaxed events open to Yellowknife Ski Club members of all ages and abilities.

Event Dates and Tentative Format*

December 29 - Short distance (interval start) (Sunday event, sign in 12:00-12:40pm, Start at 1:00pm)

January 8 - Short distance (mass start)

January 15 - Sprint night

January 22 - Mid distance (interval start)

February 5 - Team Sprint

February 19 - Mid distance (mass start)

M arch 5 - Guess your time

M arch 12 - R everse Pursuit

*Confirmation of distance and whether classic or skate technique will be confirmed the morning of the event via email to those pre-registered and Yellowknife Ski Club Facebook page.

Registration

All participants are encouraged to sign up for the full race series at a cost of $25.

In-person registration for individual races is $5. Under 8 years of age are free.

Weather & Cancellation Policy

As per Nordiq Canada racing rules , the racing cut off temperatures will be -15ºC for under 12 years (U12) and -20ºC for all older age categories. Given temperature cut offs, there will be days in the schedule that are too cold for the planned event.

If the temperature will clearly be too cold, a decision will be communicated early in the day vie email to those pre-registered and through the Ski Club Facebook page cancelling the event. In some instances, an alternative event may be planned to take place indoors or involve skiing in a non-race format.

Series Attendance and Results

Attending three or more events will earn a series prize and help your start position during the final reverse pursuit! Results will be posted as quickly as possible following each event.

Courses

Courses will vary depending on the event. Events courses will be communicated the morning of the event through email to those pre-registered and the Ski Club Facebook page. A course overview/race briefing will also be provided in advance of the first starter.

Eligibility

Anyone with a pair of skis. All ages and abilities are welcomed and encouraged to participate!
