Trail Conditions Update (Thursday February 8, 2024):
Thank you to the volunteers who did some “preemptive” shoveling in the past few days. The course was groomed last night and set well. There is a good track set on most of the course. Our trails are closed today and tomorrow to preserve the snow base. Now comes the warm weather and some rain. We expect wet granular snow conditions on Saturday.
Trail Conditions Update (Monday February 5, 2024):
Good groomed granular conditions on the Georgian Nordic trails that are open today. However, it is going to get mild Thursday and Friday… with rain. We expect our base to remain solid and wet granular conditions Saturday morning. We are cautiously optimistic that we will have classic and skate courses available as per the race notice.

Georgian Nordic Outdoor Activity Centre invites everyone to participate in the 2024 Sounder Ski Tour on Saturday February 10th 2024.

Classic events start at 10:30 am with different distance categories going every 10 minutes.

Free technique events start at noon with different distance categories going every 10 minutes.

If you wish to participate in both classic and skate events. You need to register twice. Register for classic first, then on your skate registration, use the code "
ski2races
" in the "Discount for Classic and Skate" box for a $10.00 discount.

There will be soup, buns and/or bagels, and hot chocolate for all participants.

Sounder 2024 is also a SOD Paraffin Race Series Event
In the Sounder 2024, the following events are SOD Race Series events:
1 km classic
for U6 and U8 (YOB 2016 - 2017 and earlier...), 2
km classic
for U10 (YOB 2014-2015),
3 km classic
for U12 (YOB 2012-2013), 5
km classic
for U14 (YOB 2010-2011) and U16 (YOB 2008-2009) categories,
10 km classic
for U18 (YOB 2006-2007).
Waxing Protocol: In order to increase accessibility of the sport, focus on athlete development, and protect the environment; any ski waxing products that contain fluoride compounds
are NOT permitted
. Hardeners are also
not permitted
. This restriction applies to all categories, including Open and Masters, and in all events part of the Sounder Ski Tour 2024. This restriction also applies to grip waxes.
