The Black Lung Ultra is one of Alberta's newest ultramarathons - it is a three leg, 62 kilometer race located in beautiful, Nordegg, AB.
The track design follows a clover pattern, which allows for all three legs to start and finish in Nordegg - making it convenient for racers, support teams and spectators on race day.
With a total elevation of ~2300m/7500ft, the compact race offers variable terrain and all the technical components ultramarathoners seek.
While each leg offers something unique for entrants, near the end of the race, racers are directed through "The Nordegg Collieries" (a National Historic Site), where they can view the rich history of Nordegg, first hand, before the final jaunt through town and the finish.
The inaugural race in 2024 had entrants stunned by its beauty, challenge and positive atmosphere.
Don't let the friendly people, beautiful scenery and great track fool, racers should be prepared to "Dig Deep" to complete The Black Lung Ultra.
