Join us at the Canmore Nordic Centre on Friday, April 18 and Saturday, April 19 for the last Nordiq Canada sanctioned cross country ski races of the 24-25 season.

About this event:

Western Cup is the longest running multisport LGBTQ sporting event in North America.

This is an open event - open to all skiers who are either LGBTQ people or allies. All are welcome

This event is organized by Calgary Gay Ski and Social - the first LGBTQ ski club in Canada.

Events

Friday, April 18 - Official training day; meet the event organizers and pre ski the race courses. Join in on a couple of unofficial events:

• Race to the Top - uphill ski challenge
• Race to the Bottom - downhill ski challenge
• King of the mountain - combined time from Top and Bottom races

Saturday, April 19 - Season Finale Race Day - Western Cup

Categories

• 10k Skiathlon - this is the only skiathlon on the calendar in Alberta - time deductions for wearing Viking gear!
• 7.5k Skate race - Shirtless Saturday - here is the chance you have been waiting for - a spring series race where there is a time deduction for being shirtless and an additional deduction for wearing short shorts - the sexiest ski race of the whole year!
• 5k Classic race - Lumberjack Classic - time deduction for wearing a lumberack outfit
• 2k Drag Race - a race intended for novice/beginner skiers - this is the RuPaul Drag Race of ski races - time deduction for skiing in your sexiest drag
• Relay - 3x2.5k - teams created based on finish results from morning events
