The Frank Soos Memorial Distance Distance Series is a set of three races of increasing length, for skiers who like skiing longer distances. Events alternate between classic and freestyle in alternate years. All events use the mass-start format.

All races start at 11 A.M. are are held at Birch Hill Recreation Area.

December – The Gundeloppet 15Km and 7.5Km - 12/13/2025

January – The Ginger Snap Special 20Km and 10Km - 1/24/2026

February – The Unpleasantry 30Km and 10Km - 2/15/2026

These are the races for skiers who feel like they are just getting warmed up after 10 kilometers. The series is also a great way to help prepare for Alaska’s ski marathons, such as Fairbanks’ Sonot Kkaazoot, which are usually held in March.

Regular registration is $5 for Grade 7-12 students, $10 for University students, $20 for current NSCF Members, and $25 for non-members. A late registration fee of $5 is applied to all registration the day before and race day and must be paid by cash or check.
