The 2025 Skimo Scramble Series is a WRAP! Thanks so much to everyone for coming out and zipping around Hilltop Ski Area with us this winter. We're looking forward to more next year! In the meantime, we were able to pull together good
results for races 2, 3, & 4,
so have a look when you get a chance. Also thanks to Trevor, Rob, & Cam and their Hilltop Crew, as well as the great sponsors. Don't forget to check out the excellent pics from
Elliott Carr for Races 3 and 4!
ahead of time if possible. They request a new waiver for each race.
Course format will be determined leading up to the event.
Ready, set, scramble! The Hoarding Marmot and Hilltop Ski Area present The Marmot Skimo Scramble: a fun, competitive, after work, skimo race series! Various course and race formats will test your technique, fitness, and endurance.
This 4 race, monthly series is meant to be inclusive and community focused, and introduce the sport of ski mountaineering ("skimo"), while also rewarding the competitive efforts. Skimo is one of the newest Olympic sports and makes its debut in 2026. While this race series will not require Olympic caliber race gear to participate you're welcome to use it! But the great thing about this race series is that you don’t need any fancy gear at all - you just need to bring basic ski-touring (or splitboarding) equipment. So bring what you have! That said, even we have standards ;)
EQUIPMENT STANDARDS
-
All skis/boards must have metal edges
-
All skis must have brakes or leashes.
-
Skins must cover 50% or more of the ski base must be used for climbing
-
Participants must wear a helmet.
-
A backpack capable of securely carrying skis/boards may be necessary for bootpack sections.
-
If you have an ultra-light setup, please refer to the USA Skimo / International Ski Mountaineering Federation guidelines for ski & binding length & weight requirements.
-
Avalanche safety equipment is NOT required.
-
Nordic ski equipment is not acceptable.
-
We reserve the right to revoke race access if equipment does not meet these standards.
