 BC Masters December 2026 Camp

Training Camp Overview

This camp is designed to help master skiers prepare for the nordic ski training season while enjoying the ski trails at Sovereign Lake Nordic Club (SLNC) and return home with tools that will influence their seasonal training.

The camp will run from Thursday December 10th at 18:00 pm to Sunday Dec.13th, 16:00 pm; consisting of 6 on-snow sessions and 1 online session on Training Principles.

Goals

  • Offer training tools and technical skills such as classic and skating techniques, intensity workouts, on-snow ski strength training provided by the two SLNC Master, Training Group Coaches: Pat Pearce and Josee Leclerc.
  • Offer a Training Principles session provided by Eric De Nys, High Performance Director for Nordiq Canada,
  • Connect with other BC Masters skiers,
  • Build connections with fellow Masters skiers and stay actively involved in the BC Masters skiing community.

Requirements and Pre-Requisites

  • Must be a current member of the BC Masters Cross Country Ski Association
  • Must be able to ski classic and skating techniques

 

We must have a minimum of 25 participants to run the camp and there is a maximum of 40 participants. Allocation of participants is on a first-come first-serve basis.

Friday, Dec. 11

       9:00: Skier Check-In

       9:30–11:00: Classic Skiing — Easy ski and speed workout

       13:00: Session Briefing and Group Assignments

       13:30–15:30: Classic Skiing Technique Session*

15:45–17:00: Ski Selection and Ski Grind

Saturday, Dec. 12

       9:00: Skier Check-In

       9:30–11:00: Skate Skiing — Intensity: zone 3 intervals workout

       13:00: Session Briefing and Group Assignments

       13:30–15:30: Skate Skiing Technique Session**

       18:00–20:30: Group Dinner at Silver Star Village

Sunday, Dec. 13

       9:00: Skier Check-In

       9:30–11:00: Classic Skiing — Double-Pole technique and upper body strength on skis

       13:00: Session Briefing and Group Assignments

       13:30–15:30: Skate Skiing — Lower body strength on skis

 

* Classic skiing technique session will cover balance, weight shift, knee drive in diagonal stride, and uphill diagonal stride

** Skating technique session will cover balance, stacked stance over one ski and knee drive in one skate, and lengthening the glide

 

Skier Check-in at the Sovereign Lake Nordic Ski Club.

Waxing facilities are available at Sovereign Lake Nordic Ski Club.

Registration Details

  • $250 includes all scheduled coached on-snow sessions, welcome and training principles session, snacks and refreshments during workouts, and group dinner (except for drinks).
  • Skiers are responsible for purchasing daily ski passes.
  • Registration will be open on September 30th, 2026 through Zone4.
  • Registration deadline: November 27th, 2026.
  • Participants can cancel before December 3rd, 2026. Refunds will be issued subject to a $30 administration fee.
  • If the camp is cancelled by BC Masters Cross Country Ski Association due to unforeseen events, refunds will be issued subject to a $30 administration fee.

Biography of Camp Instructors

 

Pat Pearce is the newly appointed Director for BC Masters. She brings 40 years of experience and credentials of being a BC Masters Skier and Racer. She is also a Level 3 Certified CANSI coach and held a NCCP Level 3 Coaching Credential in the 90’s. As well as training and racing, Pat has been the organizer of programs, ski events and races during her time as a BC Masters skier. Pat’s Nordic skiing tenure started in the Bulkley Valley in the early 80’s and she now lives at Silver Star and is coaching for SLNC. Pat has been the Coordinator and Coach for the Masters Training Group at SLNC for the past 4 years and continues to compete both nationally and internationally.

 

Josee Leclerc is a SLNC Masters Training Group coach with Pat Pearce and is the lead technical delegate for the team. Josee started skiing at a very young age, competed on the Quebec circuit as a

junior skier, and later on as a senior and master athlete at national and international competitions.

She advanced her love for the sport by completing her level 3 National coaching certification and CANSI education. She was the assistant coach to the Yukon Junior ski team for 6 years, developed individual athletes and coached master skiers. Throughout the years she has pursued her coaching development and kept current with changes in the sport as well as worked closely with National

level coaches.

Eric de Nys is the Nordiq Canada High Performance Director. Eric brings a wealth of experience in elite sport leadership, athlete development, and performance systems, and will play a key role in guiding the continued success of Canada’s cross-country ski program. Eric oversees the strategic direction and delivery of the National High-Performance program, working closely with athletes, coaches, and partners to build on Canada’s strong international results and drive sustained excellence on the world stage.
