The track will be marked and ready for official training by 4:00pm on Friday June 5th.

The Buffalo Bean trails are open for use weather dependent year round. (Bike Cochrane membership required *see below*)

It's a small area, so you can probably figure out the track's we'll race - Basically, we'll utilize all the downhills as timed stages, so go check it out anytime you'd like.

Dual Slalom: (All Ages)

Parallel tracks, one named Peanut Butter, one named Jelly.

Racers paired up and race head to head, one run down each track and the best time wins and moves onto the next round.

Practice :

We'll do our best to polish up the track for race day, but feel free to go practice anytime.

Pb&J will also be open for practice during open practice on Friday June 5 during training for the Enduro.

We will open PB&J for a brief practice session immediately following the Enduro, estimated around 12:00pm.

All racers must get at least 1 practice run down each track! We recommend several more than that though.

Qualifying : New this year - Enduro racers will use the qualifying time from the stage of their enduro. (this will speed up qualifying)

12:30pm - 1:00pm - Adult and non Enduro racer qualifying

Seeding will be based on qualifying time.

Racing: 1:00pm - until whenever everyone but the winners have been eliminated

Food:

Aid stations will be on course with some snack bags provided for each racer (One per racer please!) and water refills to keep racers fuelled, but please remember to pack some of your own as well

What is an enduro race?

On our first year, this was a very common question from almost all of our racers and volunteers. As we've grown, I think word has gotten out, but enduro racing might still be a bit of a mystery to you.

How it works is:

There will be 5-6 mostly downhill stages that are timed, and the fastest combined time on those stages, wins. The climbs, and time between the stages are not timed, so you can walk, crawl, handstand walk, whatever you need to do to get back to the top of the next stage and race again.

Parents are welcome to ride with their young racers and can follow behind during the timed stages. For racers under 7 years old towwhee type devices are permitted.

Racer tech guide will be posted on the Bike Cochrane website.

Notes:

*All racers and riding parents must be Bike Cochrane members. Discounted youth memberships are available.

We know this requirement can raise an eyebrow, so here’s the why:

The Angry Hawk Enduro is hosted on a trail network located on private property owned by the Cochrane Agricultural Society. Back in 2020, Bike Cochrane entered into an agreement with them that allowed us to begin building trails and hosting our first youth camps—and eventually events like this one. As part of that agreement, and to address the very real liability concerns that come with private land, all users on the property are required to hold a membership. This is the same for all user groups (there are several) who use this property.

If you’ve been riding with us for a few years, you already know how incredible the Ag Society has been. They’ve trusted us, supported every idea we’ve brought forward, and continue to be genuinely enthusiastic partners in growing youth and family riding in Cochrane.

A membership is a small ask that helps keep this relationship strong—and keeps these trails and events possible. So please support this.

Thanks for supporting the trails, the community, and the people who make this all happen

This event is entirely volunteer-run by our very small (but mighty) team, and any and all proceeds go directly toward supporting our trails and programming.

Due to the time and resources involved in organizing the event, we are unfortunately unable to offer refunds if your plans change and you can no longer make it. We appreciate your understanding and support in helping us keep this event running smoothly for everyone involved.
