6. " The Alberta Triathlon Association has implemented a Fairness and Safety in Sport Policy in direct response to the Fairness and Safety in Sport Act (Bill 29), enacted by the Government of Alberta. This legislation—now in effect—legally requires our organization, as an “in-scope entity,” to establish, implement, and maintain policies respecting fairness and safety in sport for all relevant competitive activities.

As stipulated by the Act, our policy addresses critical elements such as athlete eligibility criteria, mechanisms for verifying eligibility, and procedures for challenges and appeals. In particular, all athletes aged 12 and older competing in female-only divisions must confirm they meet the eligibility requirements at registration.

By aligning our practice with this legislation, the Alberta Triathlon Association fulfills its statutory obligations, with the goal of ensuring transparent, respectful, and equitable sport experiences across our community".
