Welcome to the 2026 Lappe Skiathon!

Get ready for an unforgettable day on the trails! The Lappe Skiathon is a family-friendly ski event where skiers of all ages and abilities are welcome. Whether you're brand new to cross-country skiing or a seasoned racer, this is your chance to ski, have fun, and make a difference.

This event is a major fundraiser for the Lappe Nordic Ski Club, and this year we’re aiming high:

Our Goal: Raise $20,000!

With your support, we’re working to expand cross-country skiing opportunities in Thunder Bay - making the sport more accessible for beginners while continuing to support our competitive athletes.

Your fundraising will help us purchase:

New Rental Ski Equipment

We’re expanding our fleet of boots, poles, skis, and bindings to:

• Offer affordable seasonal rentals for club members
• Lend equipment to community members who want to try skiing
• Grow our popular “Try-It” events with more sizes and availability of our ski equipment

A Club-Owned Portable Ski Trailer

This trailer will:

• Transport skis and waxing equipment to out-of-town races
• Provide sheltered waxing space at events
• Bring rental equipment to community events around Thunder Bay (like Winter Snow Days at the Marina)

These investments will help grow the ski community - making the sport more accessible financially and geographically -while strengthening support for athletes at all levels.

Time: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Where: Lappe Ski Centre (5km Intermediate Loop)

Participate Your Way

• Ski solo
• Form a team of up to 4 people
• Team members can ski at the same time
• If registering as a team, please choose your team name before registering

How to Fundraise

Donors will receive a tax receipt .

They can:

1. Donate a set amount before the race
2. OR
3. Pledge a dollar amount per kilometer (e.g., $2/km). You’ll total your distance after the event, and they can donate anytime before March 31 at midnight .

• For every $100 you raise, you earn 1 entry into one of two Main Prize draws
• The individual who raises the most funds will win a choice of a $500 Air Canada travel voucher OR a skiwax.ca prize package (approx. $500 value)

Registration Details

• Registration closes: Thursday, March 26 at midnight
• Late registration: Friday, March 27 (8:00 AM) to Saturday, March 28 (8:00 AM)
• Late registration subject to a fee
• Register on Zone4
