Pilgrims Hospice Society (PHS) is proud to announce that the Roozen Family Hospice Centre is now open! This is Edmonton’s first stand-alone residential community hospice. PHS provides supportive and compassionate family centred care to enhance the quality and dignity of life for those diagnosed with a progressive, life-ending illness as well as support to those who are grieving. PHS also offers services that reach out to support the person who may be isolated by their illness, the caregiver who may be burning out, and the individual dying alone. Programs welcome children, teens and adults to be safely supported in their grief journey. As a charitable community hospice, this support is offered without the added burden of fees so there are no barriers to accessing help. Your donation through RunWild will support our friends, neighbours and loved ones with specialized wrap-around end-of life care in a homelike setting. When danger appears, Zebras form a protective circle around their young. The Zebra Child Protection Centre works the same way, bringing together a community of professionals to provide a continuum of support for children and youth who have experienced abuse. The Zebra Child Protection Centre provides support throughout the entire disclosure, investigative, judicial and healing process, with customized care for each child, youth and their family. Your participation and fundraising efforts through RunWild goes towards funding our Child Support Services Programs, which helps us to send a child home with a backpack full of appropriate clothing, pajamas, personal items and toys. Or provide crisis support when a child is in immediate need of intervention no matter what time it is. Or provide mental health resources and support through our Trauma Treatment Service. Or ease a child’s fear and worries about court through preparation and support throughout the entire court process. In 2020, the Zebra Centre supported 2,844 children and youth who experienced abuse and provided 21,696 support services to children, youth and their and families, including care calls, court preparation and emergency safety planning. Your efforts ensure the Zebra Centre is able to continue supporting children and youth who experienced abuse and providing a safe space where kids can tell. Whether you are striving to achieve a personal best, running for the first time, jogging with family and friends, or participating for the WILD time we hope you have a great time and enjoy getting active for a good cause. For a child or youth who has experienced abuse, the Calgary and Area Child Advocacy Centre (CCAC) rallies every possible support to ensure that healing begins immediately and that they and their families feel cared for throughout the disclosure, investigation and judicial process, and along every stage of their healing journey. We achieve this with a unified team of experts from Alberta Health Services, Alberta Justice & Solicitor General, Calgary Police Service, Children’s Services, and Royal Canadian Mounted Police, all working together from one location in a single organization. This collaborative model is a leap forward in the prevention and intervention of child abuse because it surrounds young people and their families with the specialized supports they need in a way that minimizes ongoing trauma. The CCAC’s evidence-based, trauma-informed approach ensures the best chance for healing, now and for a lifetime.

The Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre is a not for profit organization rooted in the protection and recovery of today's most innocent and vulnerable- our children. The centre is compromised of a collective that is driven by the courage to support children, youth, and their families affected by abuse, enabling them to build enduring strength and overcome adversity. We work in a collaborative partnership with the Central Region Children's Services, Alberta Health Services, Alberta Justice, Alberta Education, the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre and the RCMP. Together we harness our collective courage to provide children with supported recovery. It takes courage and bravery for a child to share their story of abuse, for families to bring their children forward, to believe, to listen without judgement, and to seek justice. Supporting the Central Alberta Child Advocacy Centre today is an investment in the promise and possibility of a healthy future for our children and our community.

The Caribou Child & Youth Centre opened in 2012 as the second child advocacy centre in the province of Alberta. In 2020, despite the effects of a global pandemic, Caribou created a safe place for over 175 children. Through integrated supports of a multidisciplinary team, each child was supported in an environment professionally surrounded with advocacy, understanding, and healing. Our ability to create a place for children and youth to tell their story is made possible through community fundraising and donations. We continually feel grateful for the support within Grande Prairie as well as the entirety of Alberta through the efforts of fundraising as seen in organized events such as RunWild.

Our services now include a developing Child Advocacy Centre which is devoted to giving children and youth who have experienced sexual, emotion, physical abuse or severe neglect, a safe space to share their story and receive the support and resources they need throughout the entire disclosure, investigation, and judicial process. The Chinook Child Advocacy Centre is a community-based response that uses a "seamless, coordinated and collaborative approach to addressing the needs of victims or children/youth who have witnessed a crime".
