Northern Regional Pre-competition Biathlon Camp

2017 Northern Regional Pre-competition Biathlon Camp

Prince George, BC

November 29 – December 3 rd , 2017

TARGET ATHLETES

This camp is targeted at athletes who are members of Biathlon BC and are in the Junior or Senior Boy/Girl categories in the coming race season and whom are not members of the Biathlon BC Development Squad.  There is room for 30 athletes in this camp and they will be selected on a “first-registered, first-serve basis” . Numbers may be limited based on coach availability.

CAMP FOCUS

This will be an on-snow camp and the focus will be on pre-competition intensity, while building good ski technique, effective competition strategies, and learning sound strength training techniques for this phase of your annual training.  Participants will fine-tune the learning that happened at the first 2 camps of the season.  Of course we will have lots of fun with our biathlon families.  Junior coaches will continue to be mentored by more senior coaches. Please expect to help out at the camp.  A draft camp schedule will be provided to registrants.  At this time, there is sufficient snow to run the camp at Otway; however, if the weather changes and we lose the snow, parent drivers will be driving athletes to Bear Lake for the ski portion of the camp.

ACCOMMODATIONS AND FOOD

Accommodations: There are three choices for accommodations for the weekend: 1) stay with a billet family (recommended for athletes and parents), 2) bring your sleeping bag and sleep on the floor in the cross country technical building (cost = $0 and washrooms are outside) or 3) stay in a hotel  (cost = cost of the hotel). We will not be able to accommodate sleepers in the lodge this time, as there is a Christmas party booked in that building on Friday night.

Food: Wednesday evening snack to Sunday lunch will be provided to athletes as part of the camp fees. Non-camp participants are most welcome to join in the camp meals and will be required to pay a meal fee.  Meals will need to be organized and prepared by parent volunteers. All of this will take place in the lodge. You are welcome to bring your own food and store and prepare it in the lodge kitchen.  As always, this is planned as a family event.

Camp fees are $200 for the 4 day camp (4 nights).  Coaches are volunteers and will include coaches from across the north.
