For whom?

This camp will be open to everyone who participates at the 2018 AOC events (athletes, chaperones volunteers and 2 coaches).

  • Juniors over 10 years old with chaperone supervision

  • Juniors under 10 years must have a parent/guardian supervision.

  
  

Objectives of the AOC camp

• To encourage overall attendance at the 2018 AOC.
• Reduce barriers for young Orienteerers to attend. (eg. Youth 10-18y can attend without their families).
• Engage interested coaches and volunteers.
• Start to form a Team Alberta atmosphere and provide sport/technical development opportunities.

The AOC camp cost

This is a pre-registration, fees will be collected later

• AOA Calgary Adult Members: $40
• AOA Calgary Junior (under 18) Members: $25
• AOA Edmonton Adult Members: $30
• AOA Edmonton Junior (under 18) Members: $15

*Everyone who has a membership with EOOC and FWOC is an AOA member.

Fully subsidized: No cost will be charged for

• Two coaches
• Drivers of the Carpools (5 cars from each clubs)
• Chaperone volunteers (who also drivers of Junior's carpool)

Payments will be applied later after details are confirmed. The preliminary calculation is based on 45 participants.

Example:

If you offer to drive or chaperone drive juniors or be one of the coaches and can fit 3 more people in your car you don’t pay anything to attend; it is fully subsidized for drivers/chaperones and coaches.

Families: One driver = parent = chaperone so no fee. Everyone else who participates in any race category at AOC pays the camp registration fee (2 kids and other parent pay $90 from Calgary, $60 from Edmonton). Calgary family receives $130 to cover gas, Edmonton family receives $35.)

COST INCLUDES:

• Accommodation for two nights
  • Accommodation at Elk Island Retreat : Up to about 10 tents plus two “rustic” cabins that each sleep 24 in bunk beds.
• Carpool gas expense
  • From Calgary or Edmonton to the accommodation and events
• Coaching Support
• Campfire marshmallows

Does NOT Include:

• Does not include any meals.
  • Saturday there is an AOA sponsored BBQ at the race site. (There will be some basic recommendation where you can stop for meals on the way and must be arranged by carpools or bring your own supplies).
• Does not include registration fee for the orienteering events.
