Congratulations to Matthew Strum who qualified for the IBU Cup Tour 1 and will travel to compete in Austria and Italy in December!!
It was a nail-biting Trials where Matthew's shooting was not quite up to his usual standard on his first two races, but his ski times were super fast. Then on the last day, he pulled it all together and hit every target in record time, and skied like crazy to land himself a spot on the team!
This is an excellent stepping stone for him as it gives him a chance to compete at the World Cup level which can lead to an Olympic spot in a couple years. A lot of work ahead for him, but he is on the road now...
Call For Donations!!
We are calling out to Friends and Family and Biathlon Supporters to help Matthew compete at a World Class Level and continue on the road to his Olympic Dreams.
Matthew does not receive any funding from Biathlon Canada and so he is responsible for paying for his coaching, equipment and tour fees himself. Each tour alone costs approximately $5000 and if he competes with good results he will have the opportunity to compete in three tours.
Matthew has been working hard to pay for his biathlon, along with trying to balance his time with full time training, but the costs to compete are high and it is a struggle to manage.
He would really appreciate any assistance you can give to help him pay for the International tours. If you are able to donate it would help a lot!
Your donation will go directly to paying for tour fees which will allow Matthew to compete with the 'Big Boys' on the world scene giving him experience and training to reach the next level!
