The Floppet: Falcon Lake Loppet Ski Race

Details

The Floppet is a nordic festival hosted by Falcon Ridge Ski Slopes in partnership with The Falcon Sports Club in Falcon Lake, Manitoba. The Floppet offers classic or skate ski events in varied distances (1.7 km, 7.6 km, 17.5 km, and 35 km) for family friendly and competitive skill levels. Chariots and pulling devices for kids are welcome (but no pets are allowed in the race). Following the race there is an optional Feast and Concert which requires a purchased ticket in addition to race registration.

The Organizing Committee will work to ensure a high quality event. If circumstances do not afford the required snow conditions, the race course may be altered at their discretion. Local Accommodation Sponsors

• Falcon Trails Resort Located on-site of the event, Falcon Trails Resort offers eleven beautiful post and beam style cabins with their own private hot-tub and access to a wood-fired sauna. Demand is very high for these onsite accommodations. If you are interested in booking, online reservations open up on a first-come-first-serve basis Sunday, February 4th at 6pm.
• Falcon Beach Ranch Located just a short 15 minute drive from the event site, the Falcon Beach Ranch offers three authentic log cabins nestled in the forest on a rock ridge overlooking the Ranch. Each private, chalet-style cabin features a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, loft bedroom, and cozy lounge area with a wood-burning fireplace. Enjoy the boreal forest view from your screened deck and sundeck, which is equipped with a barbecue. A cedar log sauna and outdoor hot tub are centrally located to the cabins.
• The Hotel at Falcon Lake located just a short 15 minute drive from the event site offers a sauna, luxury steam room, indoor pool and water slide, and two on-site restaurants: 1964 and The Black Bear Tavern. They also have beautiful, restful spaces throughout the hotel where guests can sit down, relax, read or play a board game.
• Tallpine Lodges Coming as a couple? Located 35 minutes from the event site, Tallpine Lodges is a couples only resort designed to offer guests a quality private sanctuary surrounded by a forest of evergreens and picturesque lakes. The feeling of tranquility is evident from the moment you enter the resort grounds.

WAIVE OF CLAIMS, ASSUMPTION OF RISKS AND INDEMNITY AGREEMENT

BY AGREEING TO THIS DOCUMENT YOU WILL WAIVE CERTAIN LEGAL RIGHTS, INCLUDING THE RIGHT TO SUE

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!

LIMITATION OF RISKS

I am aware that skiing involves many inherent risks, dangers and hazards, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, variation or steepness in terrain, exposed rock, earth, ice, trees or other natural objects, the condition of snow or ice on or beneath the skiing surface, changes or variation in the surface or subsurface, including changes due to man-made or artificial snow, streams and creeks and exposed holes in the snowpack above streams or creeks, snow making or snow grooming equipment or structures or objects used in connection with skiing or ski racing; impact or collision with other skiers; failure to ski safely or within one’s ability or within designated areas; negligence of other skiers and negligence on the part of the Ski Area or its staff. I am also aware that the risks, dangers and hazards referred to above exist throughout the Ski Area and that many are unmarked. I freely accept and fully assume all such risks, dangers and hazards and the possibility of personal injury, death, property damage or loss resulting therefrom.

Release of Liability, Waiver of claims and Indemnity Agreement

In consideration of my application to participate in any way in the Falcon Ridge Ski Slopes (FRSS) and Falcon Sports Club (FSS) athletic / sports program, related events and activities, the undersigned acknowledges, appreciates and agrees:

1.    To Waive Any And All Claims that I have or may in the future have against FRSS/FSS and its directors, officers, employees, agents, and representatives, (all of who are herein after collectively referred to as the Releasees);

2.    To Release The Releasees from any and all liability for any loss, damage or injury or expense that I may suffer or that my next of kin may suffer as a result of my use of the skiing facilities, due to any cause whatsoever INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE, BREACH OF CONTRACT, BREACH OF STATUTORY DUTY OF CARE AND / OR BREACH OF THE OCCUPIER’S LIABILITY ACT R.S.O. 1990 C.O.2 ON THE PART OF THE RELEASEES;

3.    TO HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY THE RELEASEES from any and all liability for any property damage or personal injury to any third party, resulting from my use of the ski facilities; and

4.    That this agreement shall be effective and binding upon my heirs, next of kin, executors, administrators and assigns, in the event of my death.
