2024 Trail Trot

The Trail Trot will take place at Kinsmen Park on Sunday, September 29th, 2024.

Event Schedule

11:00am – Bib pick up, check-in, and late registration begins

*12:30pm - Late registration closes*

1:00pm – Start of 1 km run

1:15pm – Start of 2 km run

1:30pm – Start of 2.7 km run (elementary school course)

1:45pm - Start of 5 km run

Arrive no later than 30 minutes before the start of your race to pick up your bib.

Location

The event will take place at Kinsmen Park, 767-780 Landslide Rd , Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

1. Bib pick up will occur by the Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Club blue clubhouse.
2. Each race distance will start on the Kinsmen ball field and finish near the Soo Finnish clubhouse.
3. The 1 km race will be a portion of the Kinsmen Lighted loop.
4. The 2 km race will be on the full Kinsmen Lighted Loop Trail.
5. The 2.7 km race will replicate the elementary school cross country course (includes paved hill).
6. The 5 km race takes place on the Crystal Creek Main Trail.
7. Race courses have a variety of terrain, and ground surface may include roots, stumps, rocks, loose gravel, sand, and pavement. The 5 km course travels over a few bridges and culverts and has multiple hills. Bridges may be slippery - use caution.

Amenities

There will be one water station mid-way through the 5 km trail.

Post race refreshments will be available near the finish line.

Porta potties will be available near the Soo Finnish clubhouse. An outhouse is located in Kinsmen Park. Indoor washrooms are not available in the Kinsmen Centre.

First aid station will be at the Soo Finnish clubhouse.

Registration

This event is a Soo Finnish Nordic Ski Team fundraiser. Thank you for your support!

Early registration is preferred and completed ONLINE until Friday, September 27 at 5:00pm .

Limited in-person same day registrations will be accepted at a cost of $30, correct cash only, from 11am to 12:30pm .

Before September 27 @ 5:00pm: $20

Same day September 29 @ 11am: $30 correct cash only

School team members are encouraged to enter their team name upon registration.

This event has risks and requires participant registration for insurance. Registration includes participants/guardians signing an Informed Consent and Assumption Of Risk Agreement .

Awards

1st overall Male and Female 1 km, 2 km, 2.7 km, & 5 km.

1st place Male and Female in each designated age category group receives a Trail Trot medal. 2nd and 3rd Male and Female in each designated age category group receives a Trail Trot ribbon.

Open category participants are not eligible for awards.

Awards will be announced when results are ready for each race, and will be posted on soofinnisnordic.com after verification.

Register as a team, and on race day the following challenges will take place:

🏃‍♂️ FASTEST TEAM - We’ll take into consideration the team’s average pace over the number of kms that they have covered!

🏃‍♂️ TEAM SPIRIT - The team that is dressed to the nines in their team gear!

🏃‍♂️ BEST DRESSED - whether it’s a suit and tie or a fun costume, we’ll judge this one by teams who gather a team photo and post it to either a story or share a post and tag @soofinnishnordic with the hashtag #trailtrot2024

🏃‍♂️ COACHES AWARD - these challenges aren’t only limited to athletes! Mention in your registration that you coach team _____ and we’ll make note of the coaches attendance!
