Emphasis upon cooperation and sharing, our youngsters are able to see and feel the benefits of being with their friends and engaging in a common & fun experience. Basic movement patterns; landings, locomotions (running, skipping, hopping, springs, forward rolls, log rolls, basic cartwheels) are systematically explored. The CanGym syllabus is taught primarily, however not exclusively. The number of participants as well as the average age in a class are the determining factor for how fast skills are progressed from "attempted" to "learning" to "mastered". Upon successful completion of a level an athlete will be given a detailed report of their progress along with their first badge. The first badge any athlete will work on is the burgundy badge. Once complete an athlete will move immediately on to the next level. Typically an athlete enrolled at aged four will require full three sessions to pass their first badge. The second year, typically involves both a revision of first year, to consolidate their new found skills, as well as an expansion of emphasis on repetition and practice...a core component of any sport. By the end, if not the middle of Year Two an athlete will be working on the second badge, Red. Athletes learn basic stretching techniques in addition to the movement patterns and motor skills activities.
