Fernie Winterfest 2017

This year Fernie Winterfest 2017 will combine three events, the 2017 Teck Kootenay Cup, the 4th Annual T&G: Winter Wheezer and a Full Moon Ski & Social during the same weekend of February 11-12, 2017

The Teck Kootenay Cup #4 in Fernie is one of the events in the series of competitions in the Kootenays area for young skiers and adults alike. The event will take place on Saturday February 11th. Race participants are encouraged to be members of one of the ski clubs affiliated with Crosscountry BC in order to win points, but this is optional, and is open to the entire community! Once again Fernie Tears & Gears brings you their little brother race, the Winter Wheezer . A winterized version of their popular summer Duathlon, it promises a great day on the snowy trails. This year they're partnering with the Fernie Nordic Society, to create the Fernie Winterfest 2017! With the option to race as a soloist or a team, racers can choose from Nordic (Classic or Skate), to accompany the Winter Trail Run discipline. With a 3km Nordic only race available for ages 8-14yrs. This event will take place on Sunday February 12th. Ski club membership is not required.

UPDATED on Feb 8 - Please note, that due to the recent snowfall, we are now unable to offer Fat Biking as an option , due to the current trail conditions.

Registration for the Wheezer closes online on Sat. February 11, 2017 at 2 pm. Registrations will be taken in person however at the Full Moon Social. For more details on the Winter Wheezer, visit http://www.fernietearsandgears.com/winterwheezer/

Please note that a discount of $5 will apply when you register to both the Kootenay Cup and the Winter Wheezer events.

The Full Moon Ski & Social event on the evening of Saturday February 11 at 6 pm is a social event proposed by the Fernie Nordic Society to complement the fun-filled competition activities of the weekend. This will take place at the clubhouse of the Fernie Golf & Country Club. There will be food, snacks, a cash bar and door prizes. Our visiting and local skiers with their guests are welcome to take part. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for youths aged 6 to 12. Free for 5 and under.

The next page will let you choose which event , or combination of events, you would like to participate in. There is a small entry fee for each event and we think that you will find it reasonable. Only credit cards are accepted online. A small processing fee will be added at checkout.
