Brigade Information

NOTE  (Please READ carefully):

  • For nine days you will be travelling, paddling 4-10 hours per day, coordinating and cooperating with a group of up to 150 people.  It is the individual paddler’s “ due diligence ” to understand whether he/she is suitably knowledgeable and has the abilities (physical, mental & emotional) to participate in this canoe expedition on the waterways indicated in the general plan. You are accountable for your decision to become a participant and your decision and participation directly affect the members of your crew, as well as the rest of the participants in the brigade.
  • The brigade paddling days require steady, continuous paddling. As part of your “due diligence” you need to be suitably healthy. You have a duty of care to assess your health honestly.  Fitness training is recommended as part of your preparations.  You will be asked to answer the questions on the "PAR Q" form, and seek medical advice from your doctor for those questions to which you answered yes both when you complete this form and the 2017 CVBS Membership form.
  • If you have any medical conditions that we should be aware of, it is your responsibility to include that information with this registration.
  • Each participant is responsible for their own personal belongings. This includes items needed while paddling (rain gear, sunglasses, drinking water, life jacket, paddle, sunhat, etc.) and all other gear (tents, sleeping bags, camping, etc.). Personal medication should be with the participant at all times.
  • All crews will be informed in the final registration package update on the final schedule for social events planned and other amenities provided. Since this Brigade is part of Canada’s 150 th birthday celebration it is expected that there will be additional social events planned by the communities visited.
