Alberta Orienteering Skills Camp

Alberta Orienteering Skills Camp

The camp is open to any orienteer from forest beginner to elite orienteers aged 10 and up. All participants should feel comfortable in the forest. Coaching will be available for all groups; however, parents of children new to forest orienteering are encouraged to participate with their children to build confidence as well as for safety reasons.

May 25 - 27, 2018 at Kamp Kiwanis

The 2018 Alberta Orienteering Skills Camp is organized by Foothills Wanderers Orienteering Club in conjunction with the Alberta Orienteering Association.

We have tried to use our time to the fullest - so plan on activities for both evenings as well as day time training.

Important Notes

Participants:

  1. Orienteering Club Member : Membership to an orienteering club is mandatory to participate in this training camp. If you are not already a member of an orienteering club (FWOC or EOOC, for example), you can purchase a 2018 FWOC membership here or an EOOC membership here .  Note - Spring 2018 SOGO participants already have a Foothills Orienteering membership; parents who will be joining the camp can purchase a membership through the link above.
  2. FWOC / EOOC families with children younger than 10 are welcome but need to provide supervision for those children.
  3. All skill levels: The Alberta Orienteering Skills Camp welcomes novice to veteran orienteers.  Activities have been planned for those brand new to forest orienteering as well as advanced orienteers and anyone in between.
  4. New to the Forest at the Sunday Event only: If you have orienteered in the city but never in the forest and can not join the camp, consider coming out early to join a forest orienteering clinic before the Sunday event.  We will offer the 1/2 hour clinic at 11AM in advance of the noon start. The clinic is free to event participants.
