Saturday, March 16 TECK Sun Peaks Sprint Challenge 6:00pm Start

Sunday, March 17 Sun Peaks Loppet 10:00am Start

Teck Sun Peaks Sprint Challenge – 200, 300, 600 meters Skate Technique (no tracks will be set)

Sprint Age Categories

Atom, Pee Wee, Bantam, Midget, Juvenile, Junior, Open

Sun Peaks Loppet The 2 km, 5 km, and 15 km courses are free technique events; which means you can skate or do classic technique and timing is combined for both techniques. The 30 km course is for either skate or classic skiers with separate timing for both techniques.

Loppet Age Categories

5 and under, 6-9, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70 years of age. Male and Female.

Courses: 2 km, 5 km, 15 km and 30 km (two laps of the 15 km course).

Awards:

Awards for the Sprint Challenge (Saturday) will be done immediately after the event.

Awards for TECK Okanagan Cup will follow TECK Technical Guidelines

Loppet Post Race Social Sunday:

A post race social and awards will be held at the Nordic Center immediately after the event. Awards and over $3000 of draw prizes will be awarded to participants.

Loppet timing and results will use the above age categories, awards will be 1 st ,2 nd ,3 rd for each distance (male and female)

Registration:

Registration for the TECK sprint challenge and loppet event is online only at www.ZONE4.ca

Registration ends on March 13 , 2019 at 23:59. THERE IS NO REGISTRATION ON RACE DAY!

Sprint Challenge Bib pick up and waiver signing will be at Village Day Lodge from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM, March 16. Course will be open for inspection 5:30-6:00pm.

Loppet Bib pick up and waiver signing will be at the Sun Peaks Nordic Centre from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM, March 17. The Nordic Centre is located a short walk from the west end of the P5 parking lot.

Start Times and Location:

Sprint Challenge starts at 6:00pm with individual time trials followed by heats at approximately 6:30pm, 8:00-9:00pm awards. We will use King’s court format. Subject to change based on number of racers, available time, and weather conditions. The course is directly in front of The Village Day Lodge between the two lifts.

The sprint course is a Fun Fast course, very spectator friendly.

Loppet RACE STARTS AT 10:00 AM for the 30km and 15km distances on March 17, 2019. A SECOND WAVE WILL GO AT 10:05 AM for the 5 km and 2 km courses.

2 KM Course:

Start at the west end of P5, along McGillivray Lake Trail, left at next junction with Cotton Tail, across bridge, stay right at edge of timber onto the Biathlon Loop, continue along Biathlon loop merging onto Cotton Tail at the Bridge, return on Cotton tail turning right onto the Morrisey Ski Way at the Umbrella cafe, and then turn right to the finish at the Nordic Centre.

5 KM Course:

Start at the west end of P5, along McGillivray Lake Trail, left at next junction with Cotton Tail, across bridge, left at next junction (Lap Point) continuing on McGillivray Lake Trail, right at next junction with Whiskey Jack staying on McGillivray Lake Trail, right on Vista, right onto Cotton Tail, right at Cotton Tail/Vista junction, along Cotton Tail to next junction (Lap Point), ski the McGillivray Lake Trail/Vista/Cotton Tail Loop a second time back to Lap Point. At Lap Point follow Cotton Tail to finish at Nordic Centre.

15 KM Course:

Start at the west end of P5, along McGillivray Lake Trail, left at next junction with Cotton Tail, across bridge, left at next junction, continuing on McGillivray Lake Trail, right at junction with Whiskey Jack Tail to Vista junction, up McGillivray Lake Trail, left at upper Blue Grouse junction onto Blue Grouse, right onto Nut Hatch, right onto Raven Ramble, to McGillivray Lake Cabin turn around and aid station, back to left at Otter Loop, to left onto Great Grey, to Vista and straight through to Cotton Tail, to finish at Nordic Centre.

30 KM Course:

Two laps of the 15 km course.

Note : Caution with two way traffic on McGillivray Lake trail from Raven Ramble to the Cabin.
