2020 Alberta Winter Games Trials Zone 4

When: December 14 th In the event of a cancellation the back up trial will be at River Bend on December 21 st .

Cost: FREE- But must have $80.00 available in cash or cheque the day of the event - if you qualify for the Games you must pay the day of the trials.

Entry deadline for all races is: Thursday, December 12, 2019 11:59 pm MST Late entries will only be accepted at the discretion of the Committee.

Licenses: Licenses are not required for this event. 

Bib Pick-up: Date: December 14th, 2019 Time: 10:00 am at the Race Office in the River Bend Clubhouse

Awards: Awards will be presented in all age categories by year of birth. Open categories will be awarded for overall 1st thru 3rd. Immediately following awards there will be an information and registration meeting for qualifying athletes. Please have the $80 cash or cheque with you then.

Facilities: River Bend Clubhouse - Bathrooms and warm-up area with tables and chairs.

Racers and coaches ​ must check the confirmation list on Zone4 (​ zone4.ca​ ) as soon as possible after completing registration to ensure skiers are registered in the correct categories.

Waxing: CCA Low-fluoro Glide Waxing Protocol in place for ALL SKIERS

In order to keep costs down while still keeping the competition level fair, Cross Country Alberta (CCA) respectfully requests all coaches, athletes, wax technicians and parents to abide by a self-governed protocol while waxing skis for ALL level skiers at this event. This also applies to coaches, athletes, wax technicians and parents from out-of-province or out-of-country.

Structure tools ARE permitted.Non-Fluoro (NF) or Low Fluoro (LF) glide waxes ARE permitted.Medium Fluoro (MF) or High Fluoro (HF) glide waxes are NOT permitted. Pure Fluoro glide waxes (powders, pucks, blocks and liquids) are NOT permitted.Cold weather powder additives and hardeners are NOT permitted.

Warm-up/wax Testing: Driving Range, with any other areas will be announced on the race day.

Cancellation: Any change in the event location or timing will be posted as early as it is known on the Red Deer Nordic Website (​ https://www.reddeernordic.ca and the Red Deer Nordic Facebook Page). Where possible a decision on event cancellation or change of site will be made by the organizing committee one week prior to the event in consultation with the Technical Delegate. Where possible a suitable alternative site within driving distance will be identified at the time of cancellation.

Saturday Itinerary:

9:00 am - arrive at River Bend, wax skis (no indoor waxing facilities, must bring your own wax and benches). There is no supply of power available to connect extension cords.

10:00 am- Bib Pick-up at the Race Office in the clubhouse.

10:30 am- Open Category Interval Start (for anyone who wants to race the course that is not going to attend the Alberta Winter Games)

11:00 am – Classic Interval Race (It will be a skate race if snow does not permit tracks to be set).

Lunch (bring your own lunch, drinks and snacks) There is potable water on site in the Clubhouse which will be available for athletes to use to keep warm and use the washrooms.
