Event #6 – Fun Run/Walk Challenge - Turkey Trot!

We are excite to announce the much anticipated 6th and final event of the “2020 - 5k Fun Walk/Run Challenge”. This event will be both a Virtual and in person event with the course being laps of the Niven Lake Trail.

Complete 3 or more of these challenges to earn a Glorious Series Medal and the adoration of all your friends and family who lack this experience and medal! The special prize for participants that complete every single event this year will be awarded on October 12! Trust me… you want to get this prize!

While we encourage you to come and participate in person October 12, 2020, this event can be virtual between October 10-12, 2020. Email us to let us know you have completed the event. (ykmultisport@gmail.com)

We may be in phase 2 and all participants will respect the Chief Public Health Officers rules. We ARE NOT do this as an organized group run. If you are doing this with any group do it according to the rules of the day from the GNWT. Exercising physical distancing at all times. READ THE WAIVER CAREFULLY.

The in person event will be starting at the Niven Drive entrance and around Niven Lake Trail, October 12, 2020. Show up between 10am and 1pm at the Niven Lake Trail for a staggered start. It’s your choice. Walk/Run/Roll - anything non-motorized - just be legal and be safe!

As usual please note this is a fun non-competitive event!

When running be sure to:

• bring a phone with you for emergency,
• plan proper fueling (food/water),
• dress for the conditions, proper footwear being extremely important,
• Watchout for and stay clear of all wildlife,
• plan your route to avoid congestion and traffic,
• DO NOT use headphones,
• It could be late so it is REQUIRED that you notify someone when you tart and finish your route. Notify a friend or family member, the ZOOM meeting is NOT notification. (RoadID and Strava have an app!)
• Be reasonable in your choice of trail to complete this on and choose a route that is suitable for you physically.

As with all Series events, there are no prizes for first place. The only requirement is that you participate and have a good time. Run for a PB, walk with a dog or just have a nice day out celebrating how awesome we/you are!!

Date : October 12, 2020 10am to 1pm OR Virtually between October 10-12, 2020

Cost : $15 (participants aged 17** and under are free - a parent or guardian must sign the waiver)

**Register under 17 year olds separate from any paying participants to avoid charges related to the 17 and under registration

Check in/Start Line:

Virtual - No check in or start line, but you are encouraged to complete the event at the Niven Lake trail.

In Person - NO MASS START - arrive any time between 10am and 1pm October 12, 2020. Start when you arrive. Complete as many laps as you like of the Niven Trail and wish fellow pedestrians a happy Thanksgiving as you see them.

Finish line:

Virtual - Email ykmultisport@gmail.com when you complete the event.

In Person - Finish at the entrance to Niven Trail and pick up your medal or 6 event finisher prize if you are entitled to any of the prizes.
