Virtual Challenge - 2021 Lake Louise to Banff Loppet and Relay

With all the uncertainty, one constant remains. We are pleased to bring you the 2021 Lake Louise to Banff Loppet & Relay as a Virtual Challenge!

To help limit the spread of COVID-19, we are not holding an event day.

Rather, participants will be completely self-sufficient and time themselves at any time and date they please between January 23rd and January 31st, 2021. Use your stopwatch to time yourself and make note of your time.

Once you have completed your selected course and recorded your time (honour system), upload information along with your name and a photo (optional) to the event page. The course will be prepared from the Chateau Lake Louise to Castle Junction (36km). Course is subject to change in weather, wildlife use and other trail users. Parks Canada, Baker Creek and Castle Junction staff will maintain regular grooming schedules, however, course maintenance is not guaranteed throughout the event. Plan accordingly (e.g. big snowfalls).

You will be travelling through important wildlife habitat, be respectful and use caution. Report wildlife concerns to Banff Dispatch at 403-762-1470. Note: sections of the course do not have cell service. Please carry bear spray and follow the current COVID-19 protocols as outlined by Parks Canada

Updated January 28, 2021. The first 250 limited souvenir Buffs have been spoken for. To accommodate for new registrants who will NOT receive a Buff, we have lowered the price to $15/participant. New participants WILL, however, still be entered into the draw prizes and eligible category participants.

The course options are as follows:

Solo Skiers: 9.7km (traditionally Leg 1), 20.3km (traditionally Leg 2), 36km (Chateau to Castle Junction) or 72km (The Corona Challenge, Chateau to Castle Junction and return).

Relay Skiers (2-6 per team): 36km (Chateau to Castle Junction) or 72km (The Team Corona, Chateau to Castle Junction and return). Registering for the Costume Category is via email submissions to info@loppet.ca. See here for more details .

Please study the course maps prior to participating. You are responsible for all navigation, transport, food and timing. The course will be flagged with small, orange, Loppet Logo flagging but these often fall victim to kidnapping. Please don't hesitate to contact Heidi if you need clarification on course details or clarification on the Virtual Challenge - info@loppet.ca

Thank you for your patience as we navigate the Corona virus challenges and regulations to host our (non) event accordingly.
