Welcome to the 3rd Annual Fernie Tears & Gears Mountain Duathlon registration. Situated in the heart of small town Fernie, BC, our race is designed to test the abilities, determination and strength of participants, while also celebrating the amazing terrain and trails available in Fernie. Not to mention adding to the already impressive array of biking and running events held in Fernie August through October.

After two great years to date, we are moving race day to a Saturday in order for more out of towners to enjoy the well-known and much loved race after-party and awards! And, we are also adding a new distance - in addition to our Classic distance, this year we are adding a new Enduro distance. The Enduro distance will be more challenging and also each discipline can be entered individually.

This new distance was added to tie in with a new Trail Running Series that we are co-organizing, Trail Races of the East Kootenays (TREK) Series . Five well established trail races in throughout the East Kootenays have joined together as a Trail Running Series, with racers gaining points at each race to count towards the series. A full list of participating races, dates and links to individual race entries can be found at www.trekseries.com . Both our Enduro & Classic Trail Run is part of TREKS and points will count towards the series.

Your entry options for the 2012 race are:

Tears & Gears Classic: 10.7km run & 13.5km bike . Can be entered as a Soloist or as a Team. Disciplines cannot be entered individually, but the runners time can count towards TREKS points.

Tears & Gears Enduro: 21km run & 25km bike . Can be entered as a Soloist, as a Team or you can enter either discipline as an individual, with all runners times counting towards TREKS points.

Whether in it to win it, wanting to bring home the new TREKS trophy, or out for a fun day with the fam, we can assure a fantastic event for all. We look forwards to seeing you there!

Registration is capped at 200 competitors this year - so register early to reserve your spot! Team fees are marked per person , so please ensure both team members enter !

New! in 2012 , all races in Fernie will have a $5 fee per/person which directly goes to The Fernie Trails Alliance in order to maintain Fernie's valuable and ever-growing trail system. Please indicate in the below the number of racers you are entering:
