ABA Membership Registration


Below is some information to help you get started with registering for your 2023 ABA license or membership.

LICENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • All members must be covered under a federal or provincial hospital or medical plan.
  • A passport-style photo of the license holder (for UCI Race licenses only). Your license will not be issued until a suitable photo has been uploaded.
  • All members must sign a waiver. This is done through the online registration process. For riders under 19 years of age, a parent/guardian must sign the electronic assumption of risk.
  • All members must choose a primary discipline (BMX- Bicycle Moto Cross | CX- Cyclo-Cross | DH- Downhill | XC- Cross-Country | Road | Track)
  • Important note for all UCI Athletes over 35 years old : All athletes aged 35 years or older must decide at the time of license application to compete in either Elite or Master for the entire season. Changes between Master and Elite are only possible at the time of annual license renewal. Mid-season changes between Elite and Master are not possible.



ADDITIONAL INFORMATION


* You can only select the sports which correspond to your license. For instance you cannot add Cyclo-cross to a MTB/DH/Enduro ONLY license

** If offered by a race organizer

*** Must have the appropriate credentials to register for a number of technical license categories

  • Coaches must have completed training and/or certification as an NCCP cycling coach.
  • Commissaires must have completed training and passed evaluation at the appropriate level.
  • Drivers must have successfully completed Cycling Canada’s online Caravan Driver Training.

**** Anyone purchasing a technical license in addition to an ABA or UCI license

will only pay one license fee, whichever is greater.

Note: UCI license ability categories are NOT CONFIRMED until the license has been processed and issued.

*****Provincial Race licenses do not allow for upgrading, licensees can only race in Novice or Category 5


Member Benefits


All members are covered under the ABA insurance program while participating in sanctioned events. Insurance includes personal sport accident and a $10 million liability portion. More information can be found at here
