Additional U12 Christmas Camp Training Day

Rough Itinerary:

8:45am   Meet the group boots on and ready to ski (with lift pass already purchased)

9:00am   Load first chairlift for morning training session

11:30am Lunch

12:15pm Afternoon training session begins

3:00pm   Athletes dropped off to parents @ Parking Lot 1

Camp Focus:

The purpose of the additional training day on snow for our U12 athletes is to continue building on more advanced concepts introduced during the previous three days of the weekend.

The required days (60 ) on snow for U12 athletes is significantly higher than the requirements for U8/U10 athletes (please refer to the ACA-LTAD ‘Learn To Train’ training/competition requirements for more information).

Training opportunities at mountain venues are a precious commodity for our U12 athletes. As we move closer to the start of the NGSL North Zone and AASA U12 Provincial race schedule, U12 athletes are strongly encouraged to seek additional time on snow. Structure and unstructured skiing on mountain terrain helps encourage further development of spatial awareness, action and reaction, adaptability, balance and athleticism.

Eligibility:

Any SVR U12 athletes who are comfortable skiing all blue and most black runs. Athletes must be competent at riding chairlifts by themselves with confidence. Athletes should be able to keep up with their peers at the U12 level.

Athletes must be intermediate to advanced skiers (please review the disclaimer* below).

Equipment:

Slalom skis / Race skis appropriately sized to the athlete are required.

Free skis / Rock skis are recommended for the afternoon but are not required.

*Disclaimer: For all Nancy Greene Mountain camps/races, we provide a specific number of coaches based on the assumption that athletes are both confident and competent skiers. If your athlete does not meet the minimum technical requirements, is unable to keep up with the group, or if there is an issue with athlete behaviour and attitude, parents are required to be on standby to assist coaches on snow full-time in handling their athlete during morning and afternoon training sessions.

In extreme circumstances (and at the discretion of the Head Coach or Program Director), an athlete may no longer be permitted to participate further in the camp/race. In these instances, parents understand that their athlete is barred from further participation. Snow Valley Racing will provide a credit for the days the athlete will no longer be attending (not including the day they are removed from the camp/race).
