Event #1 Canmore Nordic Centre

Canmore Nordic Ski Club invites you to the first Bow Valley Race Series on December 20, 2023!

Race Format

U10: Bow Valley Barrel Race! If you’ve been to the stampede, you know how this works. Heats of ten skiers race around a series of three barrels before returning to the start/finish line. Each racer will have a chance to race two heats with a short gap between.

U14 and older: Team sprint skate. Two skiers per team. Course length and number of laps per skier TBD.

Race Categories (all categories are combined gender)

U10: Athletes born 2014 and later

U14: Athletes born 2010-2013

U18: Athletes born 2006-2009

Open: Athletes born 2005 and earlier

Masters: Athletes born 1993 and earlier

Race Schedule

6:00: U10 race start

6:25: U14 race start

6:50: U18 race start

7:15: Open race start

7:40: Masters race start

Race fees are $2, to be collected (cash only) at bib pick up on the night of the event.

REQUIRED: Although this is an unsanctioned event, participants who do not already hold a Nordiq Canada race licence must sign and submit an INFORMED CONSENT AND ASSUMPTION OF RISK AGREEMENT to race organizers at stuarth@canmorenordic.com .

Bib Pickup

Skiers must check in, pay their toonie, and collect their bib at the start line at least 10 minutes before their category start.

Ski Passes

All participants are required to have a Canmore Nordic Centre ski pass. Day passes can be purchased at the Day Lodge until 5:00pm.

Day Lodge

The Canmore Nordic Centre Day Lodge is open until 5:30pm.

Rentals

Ski equipment can be rented at Trail Sports , across from the Day Lodge. Trail Sports is open until 8:00pm.
