BAND Together: A project in support of music education in Kamloops

Valleyview Secondary School and the Kamloops Music Collective would like to invite grade 6 and 7 students who attend Marion Schilling Elementary School, Ralph Bell Elementary School, Juniper Ridge Elementary School, Dallas Elementary School and RLC Elementary School to attend a 6-week program designed to introduce youth to concert band.  The program starts on January 29 ^th and runs for 6 consecutive Wednesdays. Time: 3:30-5:00 PM (we provide a snack break halfway through each session).

About BAND Together

• A 6-week introduction to band course taught by Jaymi Daniels, Valleyview Secondary band teacher, music professionals  and supported by community volunteers and senior high school music students
• A chance to interact with peers that will be attending the same high school in September 2025 or 2026
• A chance to explore the Valleyview music program and meet the teacher

Student registered for the program will receive:

• The use of an instrument free of charge
• Music instruction
• A $50 Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music (KISSM) gift certificate for use by the registered student for KISSM 2025 (non-transferable)
• A snack will be provided each week
• A chance to perform at our “Squeak and Squawk” concert on March 5th, 2025 at Valleyview Secondary School
