BAND Together: A project in support of music education in Kamloops

Brocklehurst Secondary School and the Kamloops Music Collective would like to invite grade 6 and 7 students who attend Kay Bingham Elementary School, Parkcrest Elementary School, and George Hilliard Elementary School to attend a 5-week program designed to introduce youth to concert band. The program starts on January 16 ^th and runs for 5 consecutive Thursdays. Time: 3:30-5:00 PM (we provide a snack break halfway through each session).

About BAND Together

• A 5-week introduction to band course taught by Jarrett Schill, Brocklehurst Secondary School band teacher, music professionals  and supported by community volunteers and senior high school music students
• A chance to interact with peers that will be attending the same high school in September 2025 or 2026
• A chance to explore the Valleyview music program and meet the teacher

Student registered for the program will receive:

• The use of an instrument free of charge
• Music instruction
• A $50 Kamloops Interior Summer School of Music (KISSM) gift certificate for use by the registered student for KISSM 2025 (non-transferable)
• A snack will be provided each week
• A chance to perform at our “Squeak and Squawk” concert on February 13th, 2025 at Brocklehurst Secondary School
