2025 TAWATINAW COMBINED SMALL SKI CLUB & ON SNOW OPEN CAMP



Nordiq Alberta is proud to host a combined Tawatinaw Small Ski Club & On-Snow Provincial Open Camp. This combined camp is open to the entire province and cross-country ski community. The camp will be held Friday, March 7th to Sunday, March 9th.


This provincial camp is open to skiers of all skill levels and all age categories. Whether you are a beginner wanting to improve your skills or a Master looking to refine your technique this camp is for you!


The small ski club camp is open to those athletes wanting to prepare for Nationals and U14 athletes who are wanting more racing and technique expertise. The camp members will be encouraged to register for the Tawatinaw Valley Loppet and get in a good last event prep before Nationals.


Camp Objectives:


Don't miss out on the Small Ski Club event! Come and spend a weekend of skiing, technique work, amazing food, meeting new friends and games!


In combination with the Provincial Open Camp, this event is designed to provide athletes at all levels training and learning opportunities in a group and team atmosphere. The camp is on-snow with an emphasis on ski training, agility on skis, basic technique skills, speed and endurance.

  3. Technique, agility and speed on skis
  4. Endurance Training – Long Easy Distance (volume)
  5. Strength

Trail Pass : It is required for all participants of the camp to purchase a trail pass for Tawatinaw Valley cross country ski trails prior to the beginning of camp for Saturday, March 8 as well as Sunday, March 9 (if you choose the weekend option). Tawatinaw Valley is hosting their annual Loppet event on Sunday March 9th in the morning-early afternoon. Registration to this event will cover your trail feels for Sunday, please consider this when purchasing your trail passes. The Provincial Open Camp will be providing on ski instructions during this event, but we encourage participants of the camp to attend this Loppet event (registration will be made available to registrants as information is made available to camp organizers). Coaches will be providing warm up and preparation instruction to all camp attendees who would like to try their hand at a fun, local, event. The trails are beautiful to explore at speed, or with a friend or family member, while wearing a bib number!


Camp Information


Participants have the option to join for the entire weekend or just for Saturday, March 8th. Please choose your registration option appropriately:


Option 1 - Friday (March 7) to Sunday (March 9)


Registration cost : $250

Includes:

  1. Meals from dinner Friday to lunch Sunday
  2. Accommodation at the Pine Valley Resort for 2 nights (Friday and Saturday night)
  3. Coaching for the weekend from provincial coach (Ivan Babikov) and other guest coaches


Option 2 - Saturday (March 8)

Registration cost: $90

Includes:

  1. Lunch & Dinner on Saturday
  2. Coaching for the weekend from provincial coach (Ivan Babikov) and other guest coaches


A schedule, packing list, and detailed information regarding the camp will be emailed to all registrants closer to the date of the camp.


Please note camp registration fee does NOT include transportation. It is highly encouraged to carpool with other families from your club.


*NOTE*


Parents: We encourage parents to join the camp as well! Rather than dropping off your kids, register for the camp and have a family weekend together. Any child under 12 years of age is required to come with an adult to the camp.


Coaches/Volunteers: If you are interested in joining the camp as an assistant coach or a volunteer, please reach out to info@nordiqalberta.ca. If you are selected as an assistant coach/volunteer for the weekend, your registration costs will be covered.


Registration: Participants must register online no later than March 3, 2025 at 8:59 am MT .
