Biathlon NCCP Community Sport Workshop
The Biathlon NCCP Community Sport Coach Workshop provides new and developing coaches with the knowledge and practical skills to confidently introduce participants to the sport of biathlon. Hosted by Biathlon Ontario on September 12 and 13, 2026, in Sault Ste. Marie, this two day, in person workshop will be facilitated by Angele Caporicci of Timmins Biathlon Club and delivers both components of the Biathlon Canada Community Sport coach pathway.
Participants will develop an understanding of Long-Term Development principles, physical literacy, biathlon equipment, range setup, rifle and range safety, shooting fundamentals, and practical coaching methods for introductory biathlon programs. The workshop also explores coaching philosophy, participant motivation, program design, recruitment, practice planning, and creating positive competitive experiences for athletes.
Designed for coaches working with participants in the First Involvement, Learn to Train, and Active for Life stages, the workshop combines classroom instruction with practical, hands-on learning to build confidence in delivering safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate biathlon programming.
Participants must hold a current Biathlon Canada and Biathlon Ontario membership and have an NCCP number before attending. Coaches should also complete any pre workshop materials distributed in advance and be prepared to participate in both indoor and outdoor practical activities.
