Dear Participants,
The Martock Nordic Ski Club invite you to participate in the Martock Nordic Fest February 9 th and 10 th . This event is intended to promote the enjoyment of winter by combining cross country skiing, snowshoeing and biathlon. Each day will have a NON-Timed participation event and a timed cross country ski event.
Saturday will open with a bang with the an inaugural fun biathlon (NOT-TIMED, MAXIMUM 200). Participants (8+ by July 1 st , 2012) will ski (about 1km) or snowshoe (about 500m) before lying down and trying their hand at shooting targets with biathlon air rifles. If you miss then you will do a short penalty loop for each missed target before heading out for your next ski or snowshoe (4 laps each and 3 sets of targets). When leaving the penalty loop you will be rewarded with a little something. We will send out waves of 20 participants at a time, 5 minutes apart. If you have children under 8 years old and you still want to participate then bring them along as coaches will be there to do a fun bean bag biathlon with them at no extra cost. The day is not over, there will be free technique (skate or classic) cross country skiing races (TIMED) for all ages. There is a race distance suited for everyone. Starts will be mass starts for each age categories (may combine those with the same distance). Go to link below for all the event details (ie. age categories and race distances). Topping of the day will be Tim’s delicious pancakes and sausages for all who participate, starting at 1130 for the first round of fun biathletes until 1530 for the last of the ski racers.
Moving into Sunday, there will be more exciting cross country ski racing (TIMED) followed by a fun ski or snowshoe participation event (NOT-TIMED, participants must be 8+ by July 1st, 2012). Go to link below for all the event details (ie. age categories and race distances). The cross country ski racing will be classic skiing with an interval start. This means skiers will start 30 seconds apart for their respective distance. We will again have a delicious lunch provided. As another bonus, every participant of the weekend will receive a buff for their efforts.
