Welcome to The Sun Peaks Kookaburra Loppet in its fifth year. Originally a key event in the Sun Peaks Family Cup – All Nations Celebrations, this event is rapidly growing in popularity. This fun, family-oriented event is open to all ability levels.
New last year was the 30 km distance where you could enter as a skater or classic skier and receive a separate time.
New
this year is the 15 km distance which is a shorter recreational length, by skiing two laps of the 15 km course you will complete the 30 km loppet. There is also a 2 km course for bunnies and rabbits, and a 5 km course for rabbits, track attack, and newer skiers of all ages wanting to give a loppet a try.
The 2 km, 5 km, and 15 km courses are free technique events which means you can skate or do classic technique and timing is combined. The 30 km course is either skate or classic with separate classes and timing.
The age categories are as follows: 5 and under, 6-9, 10-13, 14-17, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+ years of age. Separate classes for Male and Female.
Young skiers (13 and under) are welcome to have a personal ski companion accompany them on the course. No fee will be charged, but a waiver will need to be signed.
