The Yellowknife Gold Loppet, sponsored by Gold Terra, will be held on Sunday April 6, 2025. The Loppet is a fun, family-friendly event for skiers of all ages and abilities, including those new to skiing. Non-ski club members are welcome - invite friends and family, and be part of Yellowknife's largest ski event of the year!
The Loppet has a choice of three loops: 4 km, 15 km and 25 km. The routes are specially groomed and trackset, classic-style, for this special one-day event each year. Skiers start from Vee Lake, a 20 minute drive from town. The routes extend up through Jackson, Banting and Walsh Lakes, connected by single trackset along rolling snowmobile trails. We acknowledge and appreciate this land which is Chief Drygeese Territory of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation.
Registration includes Loppet toque/swag, snacks at the checkpoints (including Kathi's famous cookies, and soup at Banting Tent on the 25 km route), and don't miss the apres-ski chili lunch at the Ski Club Chalet until 4pm.
Start time is flexible between 10:00 and 11:30am. The course closes at 3:00pm .
Dogs are welcome after 11:30. Traps/snares are traditionally used in the area at times so please exercise due care and attention. Dogs are welcome on-leash or off-leash but please be cautious when encountering others on the trail.
Please take a moment to read our Loppet rules and notices:
- Please register all your family members, including infants and young children, for insurance purposes. *We now need to add a $3 insurance fee for all participants, through Nordiq Canada. Thanks for understanding.
