U12 Sunshine Training Camp

April 23-24, 2022

Dates:

Saturday, April 23 ^th – Sunday, April 24 ^th , 2022

Cost:

Estimate - $150. Cost of lift passes are not included. Parents are responsible for purchasing lift tickets for their athletes.

Where:

Sunshine Village, 1 Sunshine access Rd, Banff, AB T1L 1J5

Meeting Time:

8:30am at the bottom of the Sunshine Gondola/base lodge

Rough Itinerary:

8:30am Meet the group boots on, ready to ski, with a packed lunch and water

8:45am Load gondola (morning will be training)

12:00pm Lunch

12:30pm Meet the group (afternoon will be free skiing)

3:00pm Pickup at bottom of the Sunshine Gondola/base lodge

Camp Focus:

Our first spring training camp of the season! The focus of this weekend will be returning to basics and building on foundational skills from the 21/22 season. AM session will consist of training (on and off course environments) and structured free skiing to recondition technical skills. PM training session will consist of fun skiing in lots of trees and bumps!

Eligibility:

All U12 athletes that are comfortable skiing all blue and most black runs, plus competent at riding chairlifts by themselves with confidence. We will be free skiing on advanced terrain in the afternoons, athletes must be intermediate to advanced skiers .

Equipment:

Both slalom/GS/race skis and free skis (if you have them) are required. We will train on race skis in the morning, and switch onto free skis after lunch.

Format:

Athletes should plan to arrive at sunshine with 2 pairs (race and free) of skis, and their backpacks with water and lunch. Parents do not need to be on the hill at Sunshine during the day (unless coaches require parental assistance with their athlete, see disclaimer * ). Athletes are responsible for their lunch and equipment.

If your athlete is unable to keep up with the group, or if there is an issue with athlete behaviour and attitude, parents are required to be on standby to assist coaches on snow in handling their athlete during the morning and afternoon.
