From President Norm Brown:
Hello Skiers,
It looks like winter has arrived and we will soon be back on skis. The club is currently in the process of preparing the trails for grooming when the snow does arrive. This season promises to be an exciting one with several events planned. The club will host an open house on December 28 where a selection of skis and ski boots will be available for purchase. A provincial x-c race will be held at the club on January 29 and the annual Loppet will be held on February 12. On December 30 & 31 there will be biathlon selection time trials for the Canada Winter Games that will be held in PEI. This season will see the return of the popular jackrabbit program for kids age 5-12. There will also be the track-attack program as well as a biathlon bears program for children 12 and up. If anyone is interested in helping out with any of these programs, or the club in general, please contact any member of the executive. As always the club encourages members to sign up early through Zone 4 as this assists the club with startup costs. We look forward to seeing you ‘on the trails’ soon.
Welcome to MCCSC on-line Registration
Thank you for registering online. By doing so you are greatly assisting fellow club members in the administration of the club. Please read directions immediately below. You should find the process straight forward. See "Membership Types" below. Included in the membership is the cost of association with Cross Country NB ($5.00) and with Nordiq Canada ($10.00). Most of the latter charge pays for member insurance.
1. Select either family ski membership * (information on each family member that is going to ski* must be entered on next page) or individual membership* (Fees charged will also show on next page), enter optional donation amount if you so wish and click " continue ". Members of the executive choose "exec" category and life members choose "life" category on the second page. (Reminder, each family member that is going to ski must be entered individually. By the way, the club pays $15.00 to the provincial/national associations for each entry) *MCCSC memberships includes a snowshoe membership. Those wishing only to take out a snowshoe membership please register at the club house.
2. (The family membership fee of $280 includes a maximum of 4 people. Note that for each additional child there is a fee of $15.) For family membership select " Add first member ", enter your information, click the checkbox of the waiver form once read, and click " continue " (Please note for minors under the age of 19 as of Jan. 1, 2023, a parent/guardian must check this box).
3. As required, " Add second member ", enter the information and click " continue".
4. Once all members are entered, proceed to " checkout " and select payment options. You may choose to pay by credit card on-line, or by cheque or cash at the clubhouse.
5. Upon successful payment options completion, an email confirmation and receipt will be sent to your email address.
6. Please pick up your season pass on your first visit to the MCCSC Club House . If you are paying the club dues directly by cash or cheque, please bring a copy of your registration confirmation with you if possible. * Again, please note that for each skier $5 of the membership fee goes to Cross Country New Brunswick and $10.00 goes to Nordiq Canada (this portion is essentially for insurance). So, for a family of 4 that is $60 of the $280. As you might expect, the largest portion of the club's budget goes towards maintaining trails, maintaining and operating the grooming equipment. The grooming and much of the machine maintenance is done by volunteers but parts are required and occasionally the involvement of a qualified mechanic is necessary. Then there is the cost of fuel. There are costs associated too with property insurance, property taxes, staffing the club house, club house maintenance and utilities.
