NOTICE TO REGISTRANTS Secure your spot insurance will be included for participants who sign up for the 13, 31 and 55 km ski events on or before December 31, 2026. After that, you can purchase insurance for $25 for the 13, 31 and 55 km ski events.

What is Secure Your Spot Insurance? If your ski event is cancelled by the organizers, your registration will be transferred to the same distance and event in 2028. You get a full carry-forward for your registered ski event and for one year only! The insurance has no monetary value and can not be transferred. Secure your spot insurance only applies to the ski events 13 km, 31 km and 55km. See details here .

Global Ranking 55 and 31 km events: Results in the 55 km events and the 31 km events are eligible for WorldLoppet Rankings. Your global ranking can be used for seeding purposes in large races associated with WorldLoppet globally and is available in searchable format on their website. There is a $5 administration fee for this service.

Waves 55 and 31 km events: Participants will be asked to choose a wave in which to start. See here for wave details.

Age requirements

55 and 31 km events: Children 2–11 years of age are not allowed. Children 12–17 years of age are not recommended. If they register, they must be registered with and accompanied by an adult guardian.

13 km event: Children 2–7 years of age are not allowed. Children 8–11 years of age must be registered with and accompanied by an adult guardian.

7 km Fun Ski: Youth and adults only for recreational ski. Children 8–11 years of age must be registered with and accompanied by an adult guardian. Children under age 8 can be in a backpack or pulled in a pulk/sled. Please place your pulk or sled at the back of the start line up.

Vikings' Feast dinner-only attendees: Dinner only option is available for those who want the feast but don't plan to ski.

A processing fee for registration will be added at the payment stage and includes a $2 Zone4 Registration System fee, $3 Nordic Alberta fee and a 4% credit card fee. 5% GST will also be added during check out.

Ski event changes-Upgrades : Upgrades to an event (e.g. 31km to 55km) are accepted until the close of the online registration, February 10, 2027. You must pay the price difference, at the TIME of the event change request, between the two events plus a $25 service fee. Please contact ski@canadianbirkie.com to upgrade.

Ski event changes-Downgrades : Please, Ski to your Level! Downgrades, (e.g. 55km to 31km) can only be made at the Nordic Fair during bib pickup. There is no fee for downgrading to a shorter distance nor are you refunded the price difference.
